Download APKTether wrote PearPass and released the source under the Apache License 2.0. It is an open-source password and identity manager. Records are encrypted on the device. The desktop app stores the vault. The browser extension fills logins, identities, and passkeys from that vault and talks to the desktop app. A phone app can hold a vault of its own.
Development on Tether's line ran through the summer of 2026. On 14 August 2026 Tether paused the project.
Jeremy Bufford continues the work from that pause. He maintains these builds on his own. Version 2.2.1 is the first release of that continuation. The files on this page are free.
First independent release after the August pause. This release pins dependencies where a patched version exists on the same line.
Electron 33, the vault cryptography packages, Expo 53, and React Native 0.79 stay on the paused line.
braces 3.0.3, micromatch 4.0.8, and node-forge 1.4.0 remain. Every published version of those packages sits inside the current advisory. A few build tools clear their advisories only on a major upgrade. That work is for a later release.
